PORT JEFFERSON: My family & I live in Port Jefferson, NY, about five miles from Stony Brook University. Port Jeff is situated midway along Long Island's northern shore. It is both a working port and a popular tourist destination, especially in summer, when the Bridgeport ferry and Danfords marina draw visitors from both sides of Long Island Sound.
SAILING: One of the delightful things about living in Port Jeff is the opportunity to sail in & around its large harbor, which has many coves & inlets to explore, and connects by water to Setauket harbor. A deep channel for commercial traffic runs along its main axis:

Our family currently owns three sailboats, which we sail in the harbor and out on Long Island Sound: two Moths Luna and Pantalaimon, and a Flying Scot Lyra. I am also building an International Mirror dinghy (hull #70369), and completing another that was started by another builder long ago (hull #26688).
